LOCAL AREA

Marden Henge - The village of Marden in Wiltshire is home to Marden Henge; the largest henge enclosure in Britain and situated between the World Heritage Sites of Avebury and Stonehenge. Antiquarian accounts of the site describe a huge mound within the enclosure called Hatfield Barrow, which collapsed after excavation in the early 19th century. The henge and surrounding area are regularly being investigated through aerial, geophysical, and field survey.

Caen Hill Locks - With a flight of 16 locks on the Kennet & Avon Canal, this may be the most impressive anywhere on the UK's waterways.

Stonehenge - One of the most famous sites in the world, Stonehenge is composed of a circular setting of large standing stones set within earthworks. It is at the centre of the most dense complex of neolithic and bronze age monuments in England, including several hundred burial mounds.

Crop Circles - The majority of reports of crop circles appeared since the 1970s,and spread in the late 1970s as many circles began appearing throughout the English countryside. The seasonal Crop Circle Exhibition & Information Centre can be visited in the nearby village of Honeystreet.
